APP Fellowships 2025/2026 Cohort at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health has officially announced the application opening for the highly competitive Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program 2025/2026 Cohort. This 12-month, full-time fellowship offers newly graduated Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in pediatric subspecialty care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

The program, set to begin in September 2025, is designed to bridge the gap between academic training and professional clinical practice, ensuring APPs are well-prepared to excel in specialized pediatric healthcare settings.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the APP Fellowship Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1# Education:

    • Graduate of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing OR a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission.
    • Degree conferral date must be between June 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

2# Experience:

    • Less than one year of professional APP experience at the program start date.
    • Preferred: Inpatient pediatric nursing experience or clinical rotations in pediatric settings.

3# Licenses and Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) by the American Heart Association.
    • Nurse Practitioners: California RN and NP licenses, furnishing license (within 3 months of hire), and National Board Certification.
    • Physician Assistants: California PA License and NCCPA Certification.

4# Commitment:

    • Must commit to the 12-month full-time fellowship program.

Program Details

The APP Fellowship Program offers two specialized tracks:

  1. Heart Center Track: Focus on pediatric cardiology and heart care.
  2. Surgical Services Track: Advanced training in pediatric surgical services.

Fellows will rotate through clinical blocks while attending didactic sessions and professional development seminars. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating pediatric patients, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, assisting in surgeries, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Program Requirements:

  • Complete a professional project suitable for presentation or publication.
  • Attend clinical and professional didactic sessions.
  • Participate in APP society meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engage in periodic evaluations and receive an annual performance review.
