About the Compare Fellowship

Compare is a globally recognized journal specializing in international and comparative education. It is the official journal of the British Association of International and Comparative Education (BAICE) and is committed to promoting academic inclusivity. Established in 2017, the Compare Fellowship aims to support early-career academics from the Global South by providing them with international exposure, mentorship, and publication opportunities.

BAICE Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive full financial support (including travel, accommodation, and subsistence) to participate in the following activities:

  • Attend and present at the BAICE 2026 conference (venue and date to be confirmed).
  • Participate in the Compare writers’ workshop, a full-day session tailored for early-career researchers.
  • Undertake a 1–2 week research stay at a UK-based institution post-conference, allowing access to academic resources and networking with scholars.

While in their home country, Compare Fellows will also:

  • Engage in e-mentoring sessions.
  • Develop a research article for submission to Compare.
  • Help organize activities that support academic writing within their institution or country.
  • Actively participate in Compare as a reviewer to contribute to the journal’s peer-review process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must meet the following conditions:

  • Currently be affiliated with a university in a low-income country (as per the World Bank classification).
  • Have completed their doctoral degree within the last six years.
  • Be actively engaged in teaching or researching in the field of education.

  • CV/resume, detailing qualifications, professional experience, and publications.
  • A 1,000-word supporting statement outlining research interests, publication trajectory, future academic plans, and how the fellowship will benefit them and their institutions.
  • An abstract (300 words) for a proposed conference presentation at BAICE 2026 on a research topic of their choice.
  • (Optional) If contact has already been made with a UK institution or mentor, applicants should mention this in their application, though prior arrangements are not mandatory.
