Venice is not just canals and gondolas. It is also home to one of Italy’s most respected public universities, and right now, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice is actively recruiting talented international students with a merit-based scholarship programme worth up to 30,000 euros over the full duration of a degree. The university is awarding a total of 28 Italian scholarships, split between bachelor’s and master’s level applicants who apply during the first and second admission rounds. The selection is based on academic performance, a motivational video, reference letters, and language proficiency, with a clear, published scoring rubric that leaves little to guesswork. If you have a strong academic record and a genuine reason to study in Italy, this deserves a serious look.

What the Money Actually Looks Like?

The financial structure of this scholarship is straightforward, paid in installments and renewable each year provided you meet clearly defined academic benchmarks.

  • Master’s degree recipients receive 10,000 euros per year for up to two years, totaling a maximum of 20,000 euros over the full programme.
  • Bachelor’s degree recipients receive 10,000 euros per year for up to three years, totaling a maximum of 30,000 euros over the full programme.
  • Each year’s amount is split into two equal installments, credited directly to the student’s university-issued CartaConto prepaid card.
  • The first installment is paid after completing enrollment, no later than February 28, 2027.
  • The second installment is conditional: students must earn at least 24 ECTS credits and maintain a weighted average of at least 26 out of 30 by August 10, 2027.
  • Renewal for subsequent years requires earning at least 48 ECTS by September 30 of each year, again with a minimum 26/30 weighted average.
  • All scholarship amounts are subject to Italian taxation, and recipients are still responsible for paying their tuition fees separately.

Who Can Actually Apply?

This scholarship targets high-achieving students with international academic backgrounds, regardless of nationality. The key requirement is that your qualifying diploma or degree was earned outside Italy or at an Italian institution based abroad.

  • You must hold, or be in the process of completing, a valid qualification that grants access to bachelor’s or master’s programmes in the Italian university system, obtained from a non-Italian school or university or an Italian institution located abroad.
  • Your weighted average (or CGPA) must be at least 8.5 out of 10 on a standardized scale when compared against the maximum grade in your education system.
  • You must have received, or be in the process of receiving, an enrolment eligibility letter from Ca’ Foscari after completing the pre-evaluation and admission process on apply.unive.it.
  • You need a minimum B2-level language certificate in the language of instruction of your chosen programme, though you can still apply without one at the cost of forfeiting 7 points in the evaluation.
  • The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship from the Italian government or Italian public institutions, including the Veneto Region’s need-based financial aid.
  • A maximum of four scholarships can be awarded to candidates sharing the same citizenship.
  • Joint or double degree programmes where tuition is paid to a partner university rather than Ca’ Foscari are excluded.

How to Apply, Step by Step

The application process of master and bachelor degree scholarship at Ca Foscari university runs through separate online platform (https://www.unive.it/pag/fileadmin/user_upload/inglese/international/doc/degree-seeking/CALL_FOR_APPLICATIONS_SCHOLARSHIPS_2026-2027_EN.pdf) and involves gathering several documents, so starting early matters more than usual here.
