What’s in the Scholarship Package?

Selected scholars will benefit from a fully funded study and training experience in Canada. The program covers:

  • Higher education, vocational, and technical training opportunities in Canada.
  • Exposure to world-class Canadian institutions in fields linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Hands-on skills and knowledge to prepare you for evolving job markets.
  • A focus on empowering women, with at least 51% of scholarships awarded to female candidates.

In total, around 600 scholars will be supported until 2030, all returning as change-makers to strengthen social and economic development in their communities.

Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Snapshot

Unlike many scholarships, applications are not made individually to the BCDI 2030 program. Instead, eligibility is determined through partnerships:

  • Canadian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) collaborate with HEIs in the 26 eligible countries.
  • These partner institutions design projects, launch scholarship calls, and select recipients based on agreed criteria.
  • Each project sets its own admission and selection requirements in line with the BCDI 2030 framework.

This means: if you’re a student from an eligible country, you’ll need to apply through the partner institution in your country once the call for applications is launched.

Timeline – How the Program Works

  • Program Duration: 2022 – 2030 (8 years of opportunities).
  • Application Launch: Calls for individual scholarships will be announced by Canadian HEIs and their partner institutions in eligible countries.
  • Selection Process: Candidates apply to the partner projects, not directly to BCDI 2030.
  • Start of Scholarships: Varies by project timeline and Canadian university schedules.

Why Apply?

Studying under BCDI 2030 isn’t just about earning a degree. It’s about:

  • Becoming part of a global network of future leaders.
  • Contributing to the social, economic, and sustainable development goals of your country.

This is your chance to shape a brighter future for yourself—and for your community.
