Century Fund Scholarships 2027-2028 Open at Chulalongkorn University

Could your next research project take you to Chulalongkorn University in Thailand? Its Second Century Fund (C2F) offers two distinct routes: a scholarship towards a PhD and a fellowship for postdoctoral research. Both connect funding with research output, making your choice of mentor as important as your academic record.

The C2F PhD round is open for January 2027 entry. The postdoctoral page also carries updated fiscal-year 2027 information and currently links to an application form for a December 2026 start. Choose your academic stage first, then build your application with a suitable Chulalongkorn mentor.

Which Chulalongkorn C2F route fits your research plans?
Status: PhD applications open; postdoc application link available, with its round dates requiring confirmation.
Audience: Prospective doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers seeking a Chulalongkorn host.
Funding: PhD support varies by track; postdoc support includes a monthly stipend and conditional retention payment.
English: PhD applicants graduating abroad need IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 500 under C2F rules; check programme requirements separately. Postdoc requirements must be checked in the current policy.
Application fee: Not stated on the C2F overview pages; check any separate doctoral admission charge.
PhD deadline: 30 October 2026.
Official information checked: 2 October 2026.

PhD scholarship or postdoctoral fellowship at Chulalongkorn?

Choose the PhD route to earn a doctorate; choose the postdoc route to undertake research beyond doctoral study. They share the C2F funding umbrella, but use separate applicant and mentor forms.

Science, social sciences and humanities appear in C2F’s research framework. That does not mean every department has a funded place: ask your proposed host whether your project fits the relevant track and available facilities.

What will Chulalongkorn C2F pay, and what remains your responsibility?

PhD Track A pays THB 25,000 monthly, Track B THB 20,000, while Track C provides tuition support without a monthly stipend. Support lasts three years. Tuition is covered at Thai-student rates; international surcharges, programme fees and additional charges are excluded.

Retention payments depend on delivering agreed research outputs. Do not count a conditional payment as money available when you arrive. Ask the faculty for a written breakdown of uncovered tuition before accepting.

The postdoctoral overview confirms monthly support and a retention payment. Obtain the applicable figures and duration from the fiscal-year 2027 policy and your host before budgeting; older C2F advertisements should not determine your financial plan.

Who can compete for the Chulalongkorn C2F PhD scholarship?

The current PhD rules target newly enrolling students aged no more than 35 at programme commencement. Existing students are excluded.

  • Master’s graduates need GPAX 3.50.
  • Bachelor’s graduates need GPAX 3.25 from a QS/THE top-500 university, or 3.50 otherwise.
  • Thesis-only master’s graduates without grades have an alternative thesis-evaluation and publication route.

Meeting C2F’s English threshold does not guarantee admission to your chosen doctorate. Request both sets of requirements from the faculty. For postdocs, check the separate current policy rather than applying these student age, grade or language rules to yourself.

How do you apply with a Chulalongkorn University mentor?

Prepare the application jointly with your host, then complete the separate applicant and mentor submissions. A strong project needs a workable method, access to facilities and achievable outputs. Use this research proposal preparation guide to develop those ideas; follow C2F’s prescribed format for submission.

  1. Find your host. Discuss research fit, the proposed track and expected publications with a Chulalongkorn faculty member or researcher.
  2. Choose the correct official page. Open the C2F PhD scholarship page or C2F postdoctoral fellowship page. Read the fiscal-year 2027 criteria and corresponding schedule.
  3. Complete the admission or hosting requirements. PhD documents include the official B21 acceptance letter, graduation certificate, transcript and English score. Salaried applicants also need the specified study-leave or resignation approval. Postdocs should obtain the current application-materials checklist.
  4. Submit through the linked application form. For PhD applicants, submission triggers an email inviting the mentor to complete their part. Postdocs should follow their current round’s applicant and mentor instructions. Confirm both submissions, any separate admission fee and the deadline with your host.
  5. Check the next step. Monitor results and arrange enrolment or the fellowship contract only after approval. Direct unresolved questions to [email protected] or [email protected].

Which Chulalongkorn C2F deadline applies to your route?

The last date to apply for the Chulalongkorn University C2F PhD Scholarship in the current round is 30 October 2026. Applications opened on 1 October; results are scheduled for 1 December, with study beginning on 4 January 2027. The next announced PhD window is 3–31 May 2027 for August entry.

As checked on 2 October 2026, the C2F postdoc page links to a December 2026 commencement form and publishes a fiscal-year 2027 schedule. Confirm that round’s precise cutoff with C2F before submitting; the PhD deadline does not apply to postdoctoral applications.
