China Agricultural University CSC Scholarships 2027 Announced: Prepare Documents for Submission

Your CAU scholarship application can begin taking shape before the application window opens. China Agricultural University in Beijing has announced its 2027 international admissions, including the upcoming Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Graduate Student Program for master’s and PhD applicants.

For a student interested in food security, animal health, sustainable production or the technology behind agriculture, this is an opportunity to turn an academic interest into advanced study. CAU combines agricultural and life sciences with engineering, environmental research and related economic and social disciplines. The CSC route offers a way to compete for government-backed support alongside admission to an eligible graduate programme.

But where should you begin: choosing the subject, writing the research plan or securing an acceptance letter? And does an admission offer mean the scholarship is yours? Those decisions are connected, and understanding their order will make your preparation more useful than collecting documents without a clear programme in mind.

This guide helps you move from subject choice to funding, eligibility, document preparation and the application sequence. As of 15 October 2026, the main 2027 CAU-CSC Scholarship window is announced but has not opened. Use the preparation period to build the academic case you will eventually submit.

Could CAU-CSC Scholarship be your next funded Graduate Destination?
Status: Upcoming, announced; exact dates are in the final section of article.
Main route: CSC High-Level Graduate Student Program, Type B.
Applicant group: Eligible non-Chinese master’s and PhD applicants.
Funding: Previous CAU CSC package: tuition, accommodation, living allowance and insurance; 2027 detailed terms pending.
Language and fee: English- and Chinese-taught routes; language evidence required. Application fee: CNY 400.
Official information checked: 15 October 2026. Current admission guide distinguished from previous scholarship terms.

01 Which CAU degree and subject should you target?

Target a master’s or PhD for the High-Level Postgraduate route. CAU lists study periods of 2–3 years and 3–4 years respectively. Choose the academic direction before drafting your application: a convincing proposal needs a clear home within the university.

CAU’s academic catalogue extends beyond farming. Its established fields include crop science, horticulture, plant protection, animal science, veterinary medicine, food science, biology, environmental science, agricultural and mechanical engineering, computing, economics and development studies. These are subject areas to explore, rather than a promise of scholarship places in every specialization.

My recommendation is to shortlist one main subject and one closely related alternative. Compare each with your transcript, dissertation and practical experience. CAU’s 2027 international-admission catalogue, attached to the graduate guide linked below, is the programme-selection reference; the detailed scholarship call determines the funded options.

02 What could the CAU CSC scholarship pay for?

CAU’s latest detailed High-Level CSC award covered tuition, shared campus accommodation, a living allowance and insurance. That published package belongs to the 2026 call; the separate 2027 scholarship conditions were not yet available when this guide was verified.

For budgeting, the standard CSC allowance is CNY 3,000 per month for master’s students and CNY 3,500 for doctoral students. CAU’s previous call excluded international travel and required an annual scholarship review. Treat these as preparation benchmarks until the new award terms are published.

The practical benefit is time to concentrate on your degree rather than financing tuition and rent alone. Still, build a personal budget for travel and arrival expenses, and reserve the CNY 400 non-refundable application fee stated in CAU’s 2027 guide. An application is an investment in consideration, not a purchase of admission or funding.

03 Who qualifies for CAU’s 2027 graduate intake?

International applicants need the preceding degree, suitable language evidence and compliance with CAU’s age, health and conduct rules. The general requirements are:

  • A non-Chinese nationality and valid ordinary passport.
  • For a master’s: a bachelor’s qualification or equivalent; under 35.
  • For a PhD: a master’s qualification or equivalent; under 40.
  • For English-taught study: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90, or acceptable evidence of an English-taught degree.
  • For Chinese-taught graduate study: HSK 5.

Scholarship-specific language conditions take precedence where stated. For your preparation now, obtain the certificate that actually proves your route: an English-medium degree letter is useful evidence; a personal statement saying you speak English is not an equivalent document.

This is also the point to judge academic fit honestly. Explain how your previous training prepares you for the proposed subject, especially if you want to change fields. Your application should make that connection visible rather than leave the admissions committee to infer it.

04 Which CAU documents should you prepare first?

Start with academic records and recommendations, then build the study or research plan around your chosen subject. These materials depend on other people or several rounds of revision, so they deserve your attention before the portal opens.

Use this checklist to turn CAU’s graduate document requirements into a manageable preparation sequence.

Document How to prepare it
Passport Validity must extend beyond December 2027.
Qualification and transcripts Prepare the notarized highest qualification and official transcripts from undergraduate study onward. Current students can supply expected-graduation evidence.
Two recommendations Obtain signed letters from associate professors or higher-ranking scholars.
Study plan or research plan At least 1,000 words in Chinese or English. Develop your academic purpose, proposed work and reasons for choosing CAU.
Language evidence and CV Provide the relevant language certificate and an updated study/work history.
Medical and police records Prepare the Foreigner Physical Examination Form and non-criminal-record certificate. Time these around submission: standard CSC guidance uses six-month validity rules.
Conditional/supporting materials Add Chinese visa information if already in China, and research achievements where available. Supply notarized Chinese or English translations for other-language documents.

I would spend the most revision time on the study or research proposal. Begin with a specific question, explain what you already know, and show what you need to learn or investigate next. A master’s applicant can develop a focused learning and research direction; a PhD applicant should make the proposed problem and methods more precise. CAU requests a study or research plan, so do not assume that two separate mandatory essays are required.

05 Where will you submit the CAU-CSC 2027 Application?

Prepare for a university application plus a CSC scholarship submission. CAU’s 2027 guide confirms its own portal; the two-system sequence below follows its latest detailed High-Level call and remains a preparation roadmap until the 2027 scholarship instructions are issued.

  1. Select your programme from CAU’s current catalogue. Open the official 2027 graduate admission guide and its “Admission Major” attachment. Record the exact programme title, degree and teaching language.
  2. Submit to China Agricultural University when the window opens. Use the CAU application system for your academic information, documents and application fee. Keep your passport spelling consistent throughout.
  3. Complete the scholarship side in the CSC system. CAU’s previous High-Level call used Campus China, Type B and agency number 10019, followed by a signed CSC form uploaded to CAU. Use the forthcoming 2027 call for the final submission instructions.
  4. Continue through assessment and pre-admission. Under the previous sequence, CAU reviewed applicants and issued pre-admission after assessment; applicants then uploaded that notice to CSC for the nomination and approval process.

I recommend keeping a submission log for both systems. Record the programme selected, documents uploaded and requests received. This makes it easier to spot a missing second-stage action while you prepare for any interview.

06 What else should CAU applicants understand before opening?

The remaining distinctions concern your application stage and funding route. Resolve them now so you can focus on your academic case when applications begin.

Does CAU pre-admission guarantee the CSC scholarship?

No. CAU’s detailed process separates university assessment and nomination from CSC approval. Treat pre-admission as progress toward selection, and wait for the formal scholarship decision before committing to travel.

Must you obtain a professor’s acceptance letter first?

The 2027 general graduate checklist does not list a professor’s acceptance letter. CAU’s previous High-Level call also allowed the initial submission without its university-issued pre-admission notice; do not confuse those two documents.

Can bachelor’s applicants use the High-Level Postgraduate route?

No; that route concerns master’s and doctoral study. CAU separately admits undergraduates, requiring high-school completion, age 18 or above, HSK 5 and CSCA scores of at least 50 in each required subject; Veterinary Medicine requires at least 250 in HSK 5.

Is the Beijing Government Scholarship equally comprehensive?

Not necessarily. CAU’s 2026 scheme had different coverage levels and initially funded one academic year, with reapplication for later years. Compare the actual award terms before treating it as an alternative with the same financial support as CSC.

07 When does CAU’s 2027 scholarship open—and what should you do now?

The China Agricultural University CSC High-Level Graduate Student Program application period is 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027. The last date to apply under the published 2027 general schedule is therefore 28 February 2027, subject to the programme-specific notice.

Other published CAU graduate windows are March–May 2027 for Silk Road, November 2026–May 2027 for the Beijing Government Scholarship, and November 2026–June 2027 for other scholarships and self-funded applicants. Type A follows the relevant overseas mission’s notice. The separate undergraduate admission window is 1 November 2026–31 May 2027; its closing date does not extend the High-Level CSC deadline.

Before opening, give yourself three concrete tasks: choose your degree and teaching language; request the academic document that will take longest; and draft the central question of your study or research plan. Completing those tasks turns “I want to study at CAU” into an application you can develop and submit with purpose.
