China-ASEAN Oceanic Scholarship 2025 Now Available

The Fourth Institute of Oceanography (4IO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) of China has launched the prestigious “China-ASEAN Oceanic Scholarship for Education of International Graduate Students” in partnership with Zhejiang University (ZJU). This initiative aims to promote collaboration in education and science by training talented graduate students from ASEAN countries in ocean-related disciplines.

Students enrolling in this program will have access to various disciplines, including marine science, ocean technology and engineering, and marine information. English is the primary language of instruction for mandatory courses, with some optional courses available in Chinese. Participants benefit from a joint supervision model, combining expertise from ZJU’s Ocean College in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, and 4IO in Beihai, Guangxi. Master’s and PhD programs span three and four years, respectively.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a citizen of an ASEAN Member State (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam).
  2. Be in sound physical and mental health.
  3. Hold a relevant undergraduate degree (and be under the age of 35) if applying for a master’s degree, or a master’s degree (and be under the age of 40) if applying for a PhD.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in English.

  • Master’s Programs (Professional Degree): Biology & Pharmaceutical Engineering, Electronics Information, Mechanical Engineering, Resource and Environment, Civil & Hydraulic Engineering

Applicants are encouraged to contact prospective supervisors at the ZJU Ocean College in advance. Recommendations from supervisors will enhance an applicant’s chances during the selection process.
