Clara Collet PhD Scholarships 2026/27 Academic Session

The Department of Political Science has officially opened applications for the Clara Collet Scholarships for the 2026/27 academic year. These British scholarship awards provide full financial support for PhD students, covering tuition fees and offering a generous tax-free stipend of £21,870 per year (rate for 2026/27 subject to confirmation).

Scholarship Overview

The Clara Collet Scholarships are designed to support 4 years of doctoral study and are available to both UK and international candidates. The funding package applies equally to students who already hold a Master’s degree and those who wish to pursue a 1+3 pathway (one year Master’s within the department followed by a three-year PhD programme).

In addition to financial assistance, the award incorporates structured teaching responsibilities to enhance research training.

  • Year 1: Students contribute 110 hours of training and second marking.
  • Years 2–4: A commitment of 180 hours annually, including both contact and non-contact teaching duties.

Selection Criteria

These scholarships are highly competitive and awarded exclusively on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong academic backgrounds and clear research interests aligned with the department.
