Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the Helmut-Schmidt-Programme Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a developing country (DAAD provides a specific list of eligible countries)
- Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, international relations, law, psychology, or a related field (minimum 15 ECTS credits in social protection topics if not directly related)
- Have at least 5 months of practical experience in social protection (paid or voluntary)
- Show C1-level English proficiency (CEFR) via recognized tests or a university instruction language certificate
- Meet DAAD’s formal eligibility and documentation requirements (incomplete applications will not be considered)

The application window for the 2026/27 academic session closes on 31 July 2025.
