Dalian University of Technology CSC Scholarships 2027: Select Subject/Degree, Find Supervisor & Prepare Documents
Dalian University of Technology’s CSC Scholarships 2027 have been announced for master’s and PhD study in China, with applications opening in November 2026. The High Level Postgraduate and Silk-Road programmes provide tuition, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance and a monthly stipend. If you are considering postgraduate study in engineering, sciences, economics, management or humanities, now is the time to identify your academic match.
What should you prepare before the application window opens? Start with the decisions that take time: your degree, teaching language and prospective supervisor. Collecting documents becomes much easier once you know exactly which programme you are targeting.
There is also an important distinction in DUT’s instructions: a separate supervisor acceptance letter is optional, but your study plan needs a DUT supervisor’s signature. That makes early academic contact useful even if you do not request an acceptance letter. You will also need to complete both the CSC and university application systems.
This guide helps you shortlist suitable programmes, approach professors with a credible research direction and organize your documents without obtaining short-validity records too early. You can begin that preparation now and submit during the announced window.
Get ready for DUT’s November scholarship window
01 Do you meet the basic scholarship requirements?
Master’s applicants need a bachelor’s degree; PhD applicants need a master’s degree, alongside non-Chinese citizenship and good health. The English call states ages under 35 and under 40 respectively. The Chinese notice says no more than 35 and 40. If you are exactly at either limit, obtain clarification from admissions before committing to document expenses.
Current students may provide university-issued enrolment evidence under the notice’s document instructions. Ask DUT what graduation evidence and completion timing apply to your situation before relying on that provision.
The announcement covers two Type B programmes. Confirm which route accepts your nationality and selected subject, particularly for Silk-Road consideration; the combined notice does not spell out a separate country-and-subject allocation.

02 How do you find a suitable subject and teaching language?
Use the four 2027 programme directories attached to the scholarship notice: Chinese- and English-taught master’s lists, and Chinese- and English-taught PhD lists. Match the exact degree entry to your background before choosing a professor.
DUT’s faculty directory offers research areas to explore, including mechanical and chemical engineering, computing, electrical engineering, materials, civil engineering, environmental research, mathematics, physics, management and economics. These are starting points for finding expertise; the scholarship’s programme directories determine the actual degree choices and teaching languages.
Build a short shortlist. For each option, record the degree title, department, teaching language, relevant supervisor and one sentence explaining your academic fit. For example, experience modelling water flow could help you investigate a related engineering research group—but you still need to check the exact listed programme.
For English-taught study, DUT lists IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 80 or Duolingo 100, with alternatives including previous English-medium instruction evidence. Applicants from countries where English is an official language are exempt from English certification under the notice. Where evidence is unavailable, supervisor and departmental assessment may be possible; obtain confirmation rather than assuming approval.
Chinese-taught science, engineering, economics and management require HSK 4 with 180 points; humanities-related study requires HSK 5 with 180 points. HSK results have a two-year validity period. Check the classification of your particular subject.

03 Should you obtain a Supervisor Acceptance Letter before applying?
You may obtain the optional acceptance letter, but securing review and signature of your study plan is the compulsory paperwork to prioritize. A positive email is an encouraging conversation, not a scholarship award or formal university admission.
Begin with the official faculty directory identified in the application steps below. Read each shortlisted professor’s research interests and recent work. Check whether the profile identifies supervision at your intended degree level, then ask about availability for the 2027 intake.
Your first email should explain who you are, what you have worked on and why that experience connects to the professor’s research. Attach a concise CV and, where useful, a short research outline. Our email examples for contacting Chinese professors can help you organize the message.
Suggested subject line: Prospective CSC 2027 PhD applicant — [research topic] — [your name]. Adapt the degree and topic to your situation.
Once the professor shows interest, discuss your proposed work and request guidance on the signed study plan. If they agree to provide an acceptance letter too, use DUT’s attached template. Allow time for revisions rather than asking for a signature on an unfamiliar project at the last moment.

04 Which documents should you prepare now?
Start with academic records, referees and your study plan; schedule medical and criminal-record documents around their six-month validity. Use a folder checklist so you can see what is requested, pending or ready.
| Document | Preparation task |
|---|---|
| Qualifications and transcripts | Arrange notarized qualification evidence and official stamped records from undergraduate study onward. PhD applicants should prepare bachelor’s and master’s certificates. Obtain notarized Chinese/English translations where required. |
| Study plan | Draft at least 1,000 words in Chinese or English using DUT’s template; arrange the DUT supervisor’s signature. Integrate your research direction into this document. |
| Two academic references | Ask professors or associate professors from your graduating university. Supply your CV, intended programme and evidence of work they can assess. |
| Language evidence | Retrieve valid test results or request English-medium instruction evidence. Resolve any assessment or exemption request early. |
| Passport and photograph | Prepare the identity page, a blank visa page and a 3 × 4 cm photo. Passport validity must extend beyond September 2027. |
| Medical form and blood report | Use the prescribed English form with the required photo, stamps and signatures. Blood results must cover HIV, syphilis/VDRL, HBsAg and HCV. Time the examination within its six-month validity. |
| Criminal-record evidence | Obtain a certificate valid for six months. DUT permits its attached commitment form as a temporary substitute if the certificate is unavailable at application. |
| Conditional and optional items | Employment certificate if employed; visa evidence if currently in China; optional supervisor acceptance letter. |
For your study plan, explain the problem, why it matters, what you already know, your proposed approach and why DUT is an appropriate place to undertake it. This is drafting advice, not an additional official essay requirement. A focused, feasible project gives your prospective supervisor something concrete to discuss.
Send referees a useful briefing rather than asking for a generic endorsement. The China scholarship recommendation-letter guide can help you prepare that request.

05 How will you Apply when the DUT-CSC 2027 Window opens?
Complete both the CSC application and DUT’s university application during the announced window. Preparing documents now does not mean that scholarship submissions are already open.
- Confirm your degree and route. Read the official DUT 2027 CSC scholarship notice and its four programme directories. Use the faculty-directory addresses provided there to find professors. Download the relevant templates and degree checklist.
- Finalize academic paperwork. Arrange the signed study plan and references. Ask admissions at [email protected] about unresolved route eligibility, age boundaries or fee requirements.
- Submit the CSC application. Use Campus China, select Type B and DUT agency number 10141. Follow the English notice’s instruction to save, print and sign the submitted application form.
- Submit to DUT too. Use the DUT international-student application system, select “Scholarship” and upload the forms and supporting documents. Check that an application number is generated. DUT states that missing either online application can invalidate your submission.
- Keep a complete submission record. Save both forms, confirmation details and your uploaded files. Monitor email and the university system for requests or results.
Before paying, check the scholarship route’s instructions: general postgraduate admissions show a CNY 800 application fee, while the CSC notice does not state a fee or confirm a waiver. Budget for the possibility and obtain clarification from DUT.

06 When does the window open, and what can you do today?
Applications for the 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship High Level Postgraduate and Silk-Road programmes offered by Dalian University of Technology open on 1 November 2026. The last date to apply is 15 February 2027.
DUT schedules admission notifications for July–August 2027 and enrolment for September 2027. Use the scholarship deadline for this application rather than the later general admission window.
Your three moves before opening: choose an exact degree and teaching language; identify the document likely to take longest, such as notarized records or references; then approach a suitable supervisor with a focused research outline. Aim to enter the application window with your academic decisions settled and a clear plan for the remaining paperwork.
