About the Scholarship

The Dieter Schumacher International PhD Scholarship supports outstanding international PhD students in economics to undertake a 12–24-month research stay at a German university or research institute. The program encourages research focused on fiscal and monetary policy, labor markets, income distribution, financial markets, or other fields relevant to employee perspectives.

This opportunity is open to doctoral students under the age of 30, making it an excellent option for emerging researchers eager to advance their academic and professional careers in Germany.

Scholarship Benefits

Selected scholars will receive:

  • A monthly stipend of EUR 1,550 to cover living expenses.
  • An annual allowance of EUR 1,400 for travel expenses.
  • A funding duration of up to 24 months for their research.
