The Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna has officially opened applications for the prestigious Digital Humanism Fellowship Program 2025–2026, a unique academic opportunity for early-career researchers eager to explore the societal implications of digital transformation.
What Is the Digital Humanism Fellowship?
Hosted by the renowned IWM, the Digital Humanism Fellowship brings together global scholars from diverse disciplines to explore the human dimension of our increasingly digital world. Each semester, the program welcomes a Senior Visiting Fellow and two Junior Visiting Fellows, fostering dialogue across academic generations and fields.
For the Spring 2026 intake, the IWM is inviting Junior Visiting Fellows to spend three months in Vienna conducting independent research, engaging in discussions, and contributing to a vibrant intellectual community.
Benefits of the Fellowship
Stipend:

- EUR 3,300/month for postdoctoral candidates
- EUR 2,750/month for doctoral candidates
Fully Funded Living Support: Covers accommodation, travel, health insurance, and daily expenses

Eligibility Criteria
The Digital Humanism Junior Visiting Fellowship is open to early-career researchers working within the humanities and social sciences. Applicants must either be currently enrolled in a PhD program or have completed their PhD no more than four years prior to the application deadline. Eligible candidates should have a research focus that intersects with digitalization and its societal, economic, or geopolitical dimensions.
It is important to note that Senior Visiting Fellowships are not open for application through this call, as they are awarded strictly by invitation
