The Donald Li YDM Global Scholarship is now open for applications, offering an exceptional opportunity for young doctors to participate in the WONCA World Conference 2025 in Lisbon. This prestigious scholarship, named in honor of Dr. Donald Li, provides financial support to three recipients, enabling them to contribute to the advancement of family medicine globally.
Scholarship Benefits
Each of the three (03) selected recipients will receive a $2,500 USD bursary, covering the following expenses:
- Conference Registration
- Travel Costs
- Visa Fees
- Accommodation
Additionally, recipients will have the opportunity to network with global healthcare leaders, participate in discussions on primary care, and share their expertise with peers and professionals worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Residence: Be from a country classified as a low- or middle-income economy by the World Bank.
- Professional Status: Be a Young Doctor under YDM guidelines (currently in family medicine training or within the first five years of practice).
- Membership: Be an active member of their regional Young Doctor Movement (YDM) and provide a supporting letter from the regional YDM lead.
- Commitment: Demonstrate a strong dedication to attending the conference and contributing to the advancement of primary care and family medicine.
YDM Preconference 2025
Before the main WONCA World Conference, scholarship recipients can also attend the YDM Preconference 2025 on 16-17 September 2025. This event will feature:
- Engaging workshops
- Thought-provoking lectures
- Unique social events
This year’s theme, Future-proofing Family Medicine, highlights the importance of innovation and resilience in healthcare.
