DOST Undergraduate Scholarships 2025 in Philippines
Dumaguete City, October 28, 2024 – The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) has officially launched the online application process for the 2025 DOST Undergraduate Scholarships. This prestigious program, designed to support talented and deserving Filipino students, is now accessible to Grade 12 students across the Philippines through an efficient online platform.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be graduating Grade 12 students for the academic year 2024-2025.
- Possess good character and be in good health.
- Not be currently enrolled in any college or have earned any post-secondary units.
The DOST Undergraduate Scholarships are inclusive and open to all Grade 12 students regardless of their socio-economic status. High-achieving students from families exceeding certain socio-economic thresholds are encouraged to apply for the Merit Scholarship. On the other hand, students from economically disadvantaged families who meet specific socio-economic criteria may apply under Republic Act 7687, which aims to provide educational opportunities for the underprivileged yet talented youth.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will be eligible to enroll in priority science and technology courses at various state universities and colleges (SUCs) or DOST-accredited private institutions. Key benefits include:
- Tuition subsidy of P20,000.00 per semester for scholars at accredited private universities.
- A monthly stipend of P8,000.00 for ten months per school year.
- Book allowance of P5,000.00 per semester.
- Thesis allowance of P10,000.00 as an outright grant.
- Transportation allowance for scholars studying outside their home province.
- A one-time clothing allowance during the first year of college.
- Graduation allowance upon completing their degree.
Eligible students in the province no longer need to visit the DOST Negros Oriental office to submit their applications. Students are advised to ensure they have a valid email address, an active cellphone number, and reliable internet connectivity before starting the application process.
Application and Deadline
The online application deadline is November 22, 2024. Interested students are encouraged to complete their applications promptly to avoid any last-minute issues. In 2024, out of 1,544 applicants from Negros Oriental, 96 were selected as scholars, highlighting the competitive nature and significant opportunity of the program.
