EU CopPhil Scholarship 2025 Open for Filipino Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Specialists

About the EU CopPhil Scholarship Programme

The EU’s Copernicus programme, in collaboration with CopPhil, a key initiative under the EU’s Global Gateway Strategy, proudly launches the EU CopPhil Scholarship Programme for advanced studies in Earth Observation and Remote Sensing. This initiative is implemented by a Stantec-led consortium and is fully sponsored by the EU.

This prestigious scholarship is exclusively available to Filipino citizens working in government agencies such as the Philippines Space Agency (PhilSA), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA).

The programme aims to support professionals in climate change, natural resource management, and disaster risk reduction, equipping them with specialized training to enhance the application of Copernicus data in governance and policymaking within the Philippines.

Programme Highlights

  • Study Duration: September 2025 – July 2027 (24 months)
  • Financial Coverage: Up to €33,500 to cover tuition fees, visa costs, airfare, living allowances, accommodation, and insurance.
  • Host Institutions: Applicants can choose from pre-selected European universities offering EO/RS courses or propose other reputable institutions within the EU. (See: https://master-cde.eu/)

  • Scholarship Coverage: The grant covers expenses up to €33,500; any additional costs must be covered by the applicant.

Application Timeline

  • Application Deadline: The final date to apply for the EU CopPhil Scholarship Programme is March 18, 2025. However, applicants must first secure admission to an eligible university before applying.
  • Interview Date: The top three shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on March 28, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be informed a few days in advance.
  • Alternative Study Options: While the deadline for applications to the three pre-identified universities closed on January 19, 2025, applicants can still apply to other EU Member State universities offering EO/RS programmes.
  • Fast-Track Your Application: If your university acceptance arrives close to the deadline, prepare your application in advance and submit it immediately after receiving confirmation of admission.
