European Commission Blue Book Traineeship March 2026 Session Inviting Applications

The European Commission has officially announced the opening of the Blue Book Traineeship Programme for its March 2026 session, and students and recent graduates from around the world are invited to apply!
What is the Blue Book Traineeship?
The Blue Book Traineeship is a prestigious 5-month paid internship hosted twice a year by the European Commission. Trainees get the unique opportunity to:
- Work in the core of EU policymaking in Brussels or Luxembourg
- Collaborate in a multicultural, multilingual environment
- Learn from high-level experts on international relations, law, economics, communication, environmental policy, digital innovation, and more
- Develop professional skills, network globally, and immerse themselves in the EU’s working culture.

- A monthly grant of approx. €1,400
- Reimbursement of visa costs and medical fees (where applicable)

Who Can Apply?
The traineeship is open to:
- All EU citizens
- A limited number of non-EU nationals (global applicants are highly encouraged to apply!)
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Hold at least a university-level degree of minimum three years (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) by the application deadline
- Have no prior work experience of more than 6 weeks in any EU institution or body
- Possess excellent language skills:
- At least C1/C2 level in English, French, or German
- And a second EU official language for EU nationals.

Application Timeline for March 2026 Session
The application window for the Blue Book Traineeship Programme March 2026 session will open on 15 July 2025 at 10:00 a.m. (Brussels time) and will close on 29 August 2025 at 10:00 a.m. (Brussels time). Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications early, as late submissions will not be accepted and competition is intense.
