This highly competitive fellowship is an exceptional opportunity for second-year graduate students to immerse themselves in NYC’s dynamic community planning landscape, working directly with local community boards or nonprofit organizations. Whether your passion lies in urban planning, architecture, public health, policy, or data analytics, this fellowship will let you turn theory into action.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the Community Planning Fellowship, you must be:
A second-year graduate student in one of the following disciplines:

- Urban Planning
- Architecture
- Urban Design
- Historic Preservation
- Data Analytics
- Public Health
- Public Policy
Enrolled in one of these participating NYC schools:

- Baruch College
- City College
- Columbia University
- Hunter College
- New York University
- The New School
- Pratt Institute.
Fellowship Details
- Workload: 12–15 hours/week
- Duration: Full academic year (Fall 2025 – Spring 2026)
- Format: In-person & remote hybrid; includes bimonthly Friday workshops
- Stipend: $5,000 total — paid as $2,500 per semester
- Host Placement: Local community board or nonprofit organization.
