FilmMemory is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) that unites four leading universities across Europe. It accepts a maximum of 24 students per intake, making it one of the most competitive and prestigious programs for film and cultural studies. The program’s structure emphasizes mobility, meaning all students—whether scholarship recipients or self-funded—must complete four study periods across three or four different European countries.
Erasmus+ Scholarships
As an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master, FilmMemory offers fully funded scholarships under the Erasmus+ programme to the highest-ranking applicants worldwide. Moreover you should also know that the winners of Erasmus+ scholarship will also benefit from:
- No tuition fees to participate in this programme
- Will also receive a monthly stipend of EUR 1,400 for up to 24 months
- Avail the fund coverage of travel and visa application fee expenses
- Receive health and accident insurance that will be meeting the Erasmus+ standards.
This comprehensive scholarship package allows students to focus fully on their academic and creative pursuits. However, applicants who have previously received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) scholarship are not eligible to apply again.
Tuition Fees for Self-Funded Students
For those who are not awarded a scholarship, the tuition fee for the full two-year program is EUR 10,000, payable in two installments:
- EUR 5,000 before the first semester
- EUR 5,000 before the third semester
Despite being self-funded, students gain access to the same academic and administrative benefits as scholarship holders.
What the Tuition Covers?
The tuition fee covers:
- Participation in all classes and workshops
- Emergency and accident insurance
- Administrative and organizational support by consortium partners
- Enrollment costs at partner universities
- All examinations and diploma issuance
- A budgeted amount for thesis film production.
Additional Costs
Students must personally bear the cost of:
- International and inter-country travel (Belgium, Portugal, Ireland, Estonia, etc.)
- Visa and passport fees
- Accommodation and living expenses (estimated EUR 600–1,000 per month)
- Study materials, books, and stationery.
The consortium provides cost-of-living estimates by city to help students plan their finances before arrival.
Skills & Education Guarantee
In addition to scholarships, students may also access the EU’s Skills and Education Guarantee (S&E) for financial support. This initiative offers low-interest loans through participating banks and agencies for master’s studies abroad, with flexible repayment options—giving graduates up to two years after completion to begin repayments.
