1# Presidential Merit Scholarship – Full Tuition Coverage for Top Students

The Presidential Merit Scholarship is the most prestigious merit award offered by FIU. It guarantees exceptional benefits to top-performing students.

For Florida residents, the scholarship covers 100% of undergraduate tuition and fees, includes a book stipend, and offers guaranteed admission to the Honors College. Students also gain priority registration and access to the Early Assurance Program at FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

For non-Florida residents, the Presidential Merit Scholarship provides a merit-based out-of-state tuition waiver, estimated at $12,000 per year (based on 30 credit hours). However, this award applies only toward out-of-state tuition. If a student’s residency status changes to in-state, the waiver will be canceled. This scholarship also cannot be combined with other tuition-waiving awards like the Grandparent Waiver.

2# Gold and Blue Scholarship – Recognizing Academic Excellence

The Gold and Blue Scholarship honors incoming students with outstanding academic records. This award is disbursed over four years and varies based on residency:

  • Florida residents can receive between $1,000 to $12,000
  • Non-Florida residents are eligible for awards ranging from $4,000 to $24,000

However, recipients of the Gold and Blue Scholarship may not combine it with other FIU merit-based scholarships.

Who Is Eligible?

To be eligible for consideration for FIU’s merit scholarships, applicants must:
