FRQNT Training Scholarships 2026 at Concordia University

The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT) has officially opened applications for the Doctoral Training Scholarships for the 2026 academic session. This Concordia university scholarship program aims to cultivate the next generation of researchers and innovators in fields such as artificial intelligence, clean technologies, mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering.

Purpose of the Program

The FRQNT Doctoral Training Scholarships are designed to support promising doctoral candidates while fostering strategic research growth across Quebec and beyond. By encouraging young scholars to pursue advanced studies, the program strengthens capacity in addressing global challenges, from climate change to emerging technological frontiers.

Scholarship Value

Successful candidates will receive $25,000 annually for up to four (04) years, providing financial stability throughout their doctoral studies. The funding is intended to reduce financial barriers, allowing students to focus on their research and academic progression.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarships are open to a broad applicant pool. Eligible candidates must:

  • Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents with a valid Quebec health insurance card (RAMQ), or
  • Provide proof of admission to a doctoral program at a Quebec university, or submit a supervisor acceptance form from a Quebec university.
  • Applicants must not have completed more than 14 full-time academic terms in their doctoral program as of May 1, 2026.

Applications may be submitted in either French or English, although the scholarship title must be written in French.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply online through the FRQnet system. The application form, along with all supporting documents, must be completed and submitted electronically by the deadline. The portal opens one month before the competition closes, allowing applicants sufficient time to prepare their dossiers.

Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly by the FRQNT once universities confirm the student’s full-time registration status. Scholars are also required to immediately report any change in registration status to both the university and FRQ.

Application Deadline

The last date to apply for the FRQNT Doctoral Training Scholarships 2026 is October 1, 2025.
