Fully-funded Scholarships 2026-2027 (International Students)

Fulbright Scholar Program 2026 for US Citizen Students

The prestigious Fulbright Scholar Program has officially opened applications for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering up to seven awards for U.S. citizens to engage in research, teaching, and cultural exchange in Greece. This initiative continues to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the United States and Greece by welcoming scholars from a broad spectrum of disciplines to collaborate with universities, research centers, and cultural institutions.

Funding Package

The Fulbright/2026–2027 program provides All Discipline grants across the humanities, arts, social sciences, and STEM fields. Awards typically support a three-month stay in the fall term (October–December) or a
(3-5) stay in the spring term (February–June 2026). While the final number of grants may vary depending on demand and funding availability, the program remains committed to enabling meaningful collaboration and cultural engagement.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a strong academic or professional background.

  • Candidates seeking affiliations with Greek state universities or research institutions are usually expected to hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree with 3–10 years of professional experience.
  • For individual research or art projects, a Ph.D. is not required, but substantial professional experience in the relevant field is essential.
  • English proficiency is sufficient for teaching or lecturing, though knowledge of Greek is advantageous.
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to secure affiliations with Greek institutions and submit letters of invitation as part of their applications.
