Fully-funded MSTCVS Fellowship 2025 in Europe (Worth €20,000)
The Francis Fontan Fund Quality & Outcomes Fellowship, in partnership with the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons (MSTCVS), is a fully-funded program designed to help improve patient care in cardiothoracic surgery. It’s a chance to work with global experts and learn how to use data to improve surgical outcomes.
Fellows will join a top-notch team in Ann Arbor, Michigan, led by Dr. Francis Pagani, a renowned expert in surgery and quality improvement. You’ll learn how to collect and analyze data, then turn it into practical solutions to make surgeries safer and more effective.

Here’s what you’ll get to do during the 4-month program:
- Work with statisticians to explore topics like atrial fibrillation and CABG surgery.
- Visit hospitals in the region to share ideas and learn best practices.
- Analyze surgical data and present findings at quarterly meetings.
- Help organize meetings and gain insight into team collaboration.
- Meet weekly with the Project Director to track progress.
- Write research papers or abstracts based on your findings.
- Present your work at professional events and to the fellowship board.
What’s Covered?
You’ll receive a bursary of €20,000 to help with travel and living expenses during your stay. Plus, EACTS will cover your attendance at the 2025 EACTS Annual Meeting, giving you a great platform to network and grow professionally.
Are You Eligible?
To apply, you need to:
- Be a member of EACTS with up-to-date payments.
- Be in your last year of training or have finished within the past four years.
- Be fluent in English.
Having these additional qualifications will give you an edge:
- Attended past EACTS courses or meetings.
- Earned Fellow status with EBCTS.
- Experience with data and quality improvement.
- A clear plan to use the skills you’ll gain in your home country.
