Germany DAAD Re-Invitation Scholarship and Fellowship Programme 2025
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has just dropped thrilling news for its global alumni network — former DAAD scholarship holders are being re-invited to Germany for new research and working projects through the DAAD Re-Invitation Programme 2025. If you once walked the academic halls of Germany with DAAD funding, now is your chance to return and reignite that research spark in the land of innovation, culture, and world-class institutions.
What’s the Buzz About?
The DAAD Re-Invitation Programme is Germany’s heartfelt nod to the brilliance of its past scholarship holders. It’s not just an invitation — it’s a recognition of your academic excellence and a bold new opportunity to conduct research, collaborate with German partners, and deepen your professional journey.
Whether you’re in academia, administration, media, business, or culture — if you were funded for over six months by the DAAD (or its co-funded programs), you’re eligible to apply.
What Can You Do in Germany This Time?
You can pursue:
- Research or working projects at universities or non-university research institutes
- Professional stays at institutions in business, administration, culture, or media
- Multi-institution projects, across different host organizations
- All with full DAAD support for a duration of 1 to 3 months.
What’s in the Package?
Get ready for a sweet reunion with:
- €2,000/month for assistant professors, lecturers, and teaching staff
- €2,150/month for professors
- Calculated monthly funding for professionals outside academia
- Travel allowances
- Health insurance (automatically arranged if needed)
- Support for disabilities or chronic illnesses
This is a non-renewable grant, but it’s a golden shot to reconnect with Germany’s academic landscape.
Who Can Apply?
- Former DAAD scholarship holders funded for over six months
- East German scholarship holders who studied in Germany for at least one year
- You must not have lived in Germany for at least the past 3 years
- You must have a confirmed project and host in Germany.
No German Language Proficiency Required!
Communication in English is acceptable as long as it’s pre-coordinated with the host institution.
Application Deadlines & Timeline:
There are two exciting opportunities for former DAAD scholarship holders to apply for the Re-Invitation Programme. The first application deadline is September 9, 2025, with the selection process taking place in December 2025 and the start of funding in February 2026.
If you miss this round, don’t worry — a second deadline follows on February 16, 2026, with selection occurring in May 2026 and the funding beginning in August 2026.
All applications must be submitted online via the official DAAD portal (https://www2.daad.de/deutschland/stipendium/datenbank/en/21148-scholarship-database.pdf?origin=41&status=2&subjectGrps=&daad=&q=&page=4&detail=50015492&fbclid=IwAR3afxUxA-V4nm7YfvYzN24bTsVoVaEOe-dbOys8jT5rLS58CghCqOF4OmI), so ensure your research or project proposal, CV, timeline, and confirmation letter from your German host institution are fully prepared and uploaded before the portal closes.
