The University of Glasgow, one of the oldest and most respected institutions in the English-speaking world, has opened applications for its GREAT Scholarships 2026 in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign. This is a targeted opportunity for postgraduate applicants from five specific countries who want to study in the UK without shouldering the full weight of international tuition fees.

Only 5 awards are available globally offered at University of Glasgow, one for each eligible country, making this a competitive but genuinely valuable scholarship for the right candidates. It covers a broad range of postgraduate taught programmes, excluding MBA and MSc Research courses, so applicants across disciplines from sciences to humanities to social sciences can apply.


What the Funding Actually Covers?

Here is exactly what selected scholars of Great scholarship program at University of Glasgow will receive under this award:

  • A £10,000 tuition fee discount applied directly to one-year full-time postgraduate taught programme fees
  • The discount is non-cash and will be reflected as a reduction on the tuition fee invoice
  • This scholarship cannot be stacked with any other University of Glasgow scholarship; if a recipient holds another university award, the lower-value one will be removed from their account
  • No additional living expenses, travel costs, or stipend are included in this package

Who Can Actually Apply?

This scholarship is not open to all international students. Applicants must meet every one of the following conditions before the deadline:

  • Must hold a valid passport from Greece, Spain, Pakistan, Kenya, or Bangladesh
  • Must be classified as an international or EU student for fee assessment purposes
  • Must have already applied to and accepted a place on an eligible postgraduate taught programme at the University of Glasgow
  • Must have met all conditions of their academic offer by the scholarship closing date
  • Must not be receiving funding from any other external body or University of Glasgow source
  • Should demonstrate active engagement or proven interest in their proposed subject area, whether through work experience or academic involvement
  • Must be willing to act as an ambassador for UK higher education, attend a networking event with fellow GREAT scholars across the UK, and promote the value of studying at a British university

Last Date to Submit Your Application

All Great scholarship applications must be submitted to University of Glasgow by 12:00 PM (noon) on 30th April 2026.
