Great Wall China Fellowships Programme 2025 by UNESCO

Applications are now open for the UNESCO/China Great Wall Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2025-2026, offering 75 fully funded scholarships for postgraduate studies and research in China. Designed for students and researchers from 135 developing countries, this Great Wall scholarship program provides tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend for selected candidates.

Benefits

  2. Accommodation: Free on-campus housing at the host university.
  3. Living Allowance: A monthly stipend is provided:
    • CNY 3,000 for General Scholars.
    • CNY 3,500 for Senior Scholars and Postgraduate Students.
  4. Medical Insurance: Comprehensive coverage during your stay in China.
  5. Travel Assistance: Support for travel-related costs within China for academic activities.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must:

  1. Nationality: Be from one of the invited Member States in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Arab States, Latin America and the Caribbean, or Europe.
  2. Education Requirements for Visiting Scholar Programs:
    • General Scholars: High school diploma; under 45 years.
    • Senior Scholars: Master’s degree or higher; under 50 years.
  3. Eligibility Requirements for Degree Programs:
    • Master’s: Bachelor’s degree; under 35 years.
    • Doctoral: Master’s degree; under 40 years.
  4. Language Proficiency:
    • For English-taught programs: Adequate proficiency in English.
    • For Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 3 for Visiting Scholars, HSK Level 4 for Degree Programs.
  5. Health: Be in good mental and physical health.

How to Apply?

Follow these simple steps to secure your spot:

  1. Review Guidelines: Read the Application Guidelines thoroughly to understand requirements and processes.
  2. Contact National Commission: Reach out to the National Commission for UNESCO in your country for application procedures. Find your local National Commission here https://www.unesco.org/nationalcommissions.
  3. Prepare Documents: Compile required documents, including:
    • Admission notice or pre-admission letter from a Chinese university (optional but prioritized).
    • Completed application forms.
    • Language proficiency certificates (if applicable).
    • Physical Examination Form.
  4. Submit Online Application:
    • Register and apply through the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System: https://www.campuschina.org/ and upload all necessary documents.
  5. Submit to National Commission: Submit your online application (https://www.unesco.org/en/fellowships/greatwall) and supporting documents to your country’s National Commission for UNESCO.
  6. Final Submission: If nominated by your National Commission, email your application to [email protected].
