The University of Glasgow has officially launched the Humanitarian Scholarship 2026, a fully funded postgraduate opportunity designed specifically for displaced and conflict-affected international students applying for the 2026–2027 academic cohort.
This scholarship is part of the University’s commitment as a University of Sanctuary, aiming to remove financial and structural barriers that prevent talented individuals affected by war and displacement from accessing world-class higher education.
This article explains what the University of Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship is, who it is for, what it covers in full, who can apply, and until when applications remain open for the 2026–2027 intake.
What Type of Opportunity Is This?
The University of Glasgow Humanitarian Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded postgraduate taught (PGT) scholarship for international students who are displaced or directly affected by armed conflict. It supports applicants whose education has been interrupted due to war, forced displacement, or serious security risks, enabling them to pursue a full-time master’s degree at one of the UK’s leading universities.
A total of 9 scholarships are available for eligible postgraduate taught programmes starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.
What the Humanitarian Scholarship Covers?
Successful applicants will receive one of the most comprehensive scholarship packages currently offered in the UK:
- Full tuition fee waiver for the entire duration of study
- Annual living stipend of £9,010 to support study and living expenses
- University of Glasgow accommodation for the full period of study
- Coverage of UK visa fees and Immigration Health Surcharge
- One flight to Glasgow at the start of studies
This scholarship cannot be combined with any other University of Glasgow funding. If multiple awards are offered, the lower-value scholarship will be removed.
