Eligibility Checks for Applicants
Applicants must:
- Belong to a Christian community and provide a Letter of Recommendation from a Bishop or highest ecclesiastical authority.
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries, including Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Armenia, Chad, Niger, Nicaragua.
- Meet academic qualifications required for the chosen degree level.
- Fulfil the English language requirements of their selected Hungarian university.
Who Cannot Apply?
Applications will not be accepted from:
- Hungarian citizens (including dual citizens).
- Refugees, asylum seekers, or individuals holding protection status in Hungary.
- Applicants below 18 years of age as of 31 August 2026.
- Current fee-paying students in Hungarian universities.
- Former SCYP or Stipendium Hungaricum scholars applying for the same study cycle.

Application Deadlines for the 2026–2027 Cohort
For the 2026–2027 intake of the Scholarship Programme for Christian Young People, the application cycle begins with the official call announced between October and November 2025. All applicants must submit their complete online application by 10 January 2026 (23:59 CET).
Following submission, church recommendation verification and technical checks will continue until 15 February 2026, after which eligible applications proceed to university-level admission evaluations running until 30 April 2026. The same date, 30 April 2026, also serves as the final deadline for submitting the required medical certificate.
The final scholarship decisions will be made by 15 June 2026, with official result notifications sent to applicants after 1 July 2026. Successful candidates must formally accept their scholarship offer no later than 31 July 2026. Visa processing and travel arrangements should be completed during July–August 2026, and all scholarship holders are required to arrive in Hungary by 1 September 2026, with the absolute latest arrival deadline set for 30 September 2026.
