If you’re passionate about shaping the future of the internet, here’s your chance! The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has officially opened applications for the ICANN85 Fellowship Program, scheduled to take place during the ICANN85 Community Forum from 7–12 March 2026 in Mumbai, India. Whether it’s in person or online, the fellowship will run in parallel with the event.
What Is the ICANN Fellowship Program?
The ICANN Fellowship Program gives people from all over the world – especially from underserved or underrepresented communities – a chance to participate in global internet policymaking. It supports those interested in how the internet works, how domain names are assigned, internet security, and global digital cooperation.
Benefits and Funding Scope
Selected fellows will receive:
- Travel support to attend the forum in Mumbai (if held in person)
- Accommodation and daily expenses during the event
- Virtual participation support (if the event moves online)
- Training and mentorship to understand ICANN’s structure, work, and policies
This is a fully funded opportunity to engage in international internet governance discussions and become an active voice in shaping digital futures.
Who Can Apply?
- Anyone aged 21 or older by the time of the meeting
- Individuals from around the world who have interest or experience in internet-related governance, technology, policy, or civil society engagement
- Priority is given to people from underserved or underrepresented communities
- Both newcomers and past participants (with restrictions) can apply

The application window for the ICANN85 Fellowship Program is currently open and will close on 22 August 2025 at 23:59 UTC. All interested applicants must submit their applications before this deadline.
