Ilia Calderón Scholarship 2025 by One Young World

The Ilia Calderón Scholarship 2025 presents a transformative opportunity for young Afro-descendant and Indigenous leaders across Latin America and the Caribbean. Sponsored by One Young World in collaboration with the Jang Calderón Family Foundation, this prestigious scholarship will select two outstanding individuals to attend the One Young World 2025 Summit in Munich, Germany, fully funded.

About the Scholarship

Building upon its success in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, the Ilia Calderón Scholarship continues to empower young changemakers who are spearheading innovative and impactful initiatives in their communities. The scholarship provides a unique platform for these leaders to engage with a global network of influential changemakers, gaining insights and support to amplify their efforts.

What the Scholarship Covers?

Selected scholars will receive:

  • Full access to the One Young World Summit 2025 in Munich.
  • Hotel accommodation in a private room from November 2 to November 6, 2025.
  • Round-trip airfare (economy class) to and from Munich.
  • Domestic travel costs to the airport for international flights (economy class).
  • Visa fees, if applicable.
  • Local transportation between accommodation and the Summit venue.
  • Catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) provided by the hotel and during the Summit.
  • Translation services from English to Spanish during plenary sessions, welcome, and closing events.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must:

  • Be aged 18 – 30 at the time of the One Young World 2025 Summit (November 3 – 6, 2025).
  • Hold nationality from one of the following countries:
    • South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela.
    • Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama.
    • Caribbean: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago.

Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be assessed based on:

  • Commitment to community development and potential impact on their local territories.
  • Relevance of their initiatives and involvement in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Addressing key local/global issues within their community.
  • Track record of innovation and impact.
  • Strong motivation to participate in One Young World 2025.
