The successful applicant will be involved in cutting-edge research, including the fitting of mandibular advancement splint devices to manage sleep apnea.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Hold current AHPRA dental registration and have an interest in sleep-specific dentistry.
  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, or have (or be eligible to apply for) a relevant international visa.
  • Meet Flinders University’s PhD admission requirements, which include an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A, or an equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8). Equivalent research experience, such as refereed publications or significant experience as a lead researcher, is also acceptable.
  • Agree to undertake a National Police Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and complete the Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN)-EC Training.
  • Intend to enrol as a full-time student at Flinders University.

Application Process

Applicants must submit both an application for admission here (https://www.flinders.edu.au/scholarships/phd-scholarship-for-ahpra-registered-dentists-in-sleep-health) into a higher degree by research and an application for the scholarship. Required documents include:

  • Proof of current AHPRA registration (or enrolment and expected completion date/date of registration).
  • A CV including two academic referees.
  • An indicative research topic/proposal (up to ½ page) and proposed AISH supervisor/s.
  • Academic transcripts.
