Japan Fujii International Scholarship 2026 Open

About the Fujii International Scholarship
Established in 2006 and converted to a public-interest foundation in 2012, the Fujii International Scholarship Foundation supports exceptional international students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and financial need. The scholarship also aims to foster stronger ties between Japan and other countries, especially across Asia.
What Does the Fuji Scholarship Offer?
- Monthly stipend: ¥50,000
- Scholarship period:
- Undergraduate: up to 3 years
- Master’s: up to 2 years
- Doctoral: up to 3 years
The scholarship is paid in four installments per academic year, starting from April 2026, and does not extend beyond the regular duration of the program.
Who Can Apply?
The Fujii Scholarship is open to privately-funded international students from specific countries and regions studying at designated universities in Japan.
- Must not be receiving or expected to receive any other scholarship in 2026
- Must be in good academic standing, healthy, and able to participate in foundation-hosted events.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must currently reside in Japan with a “Student” residence status (留学 visa)
- Must be enrolled as a regular student (research students are not eligible)
- Must be a citizen of one of the following 21 countries or 2 regions:
Eligible Nationalities: India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, South Korea, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Timor-Leste, Bhutan, Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Laos, Taiwan, Hong Kong.
Age limit as of March 31, 2026: Undergraduate: 25 years or younger, or master’s: 30 years or younger, or doctoral: 35 years or younger.

You must enroll at one of the following designated universities in Japan:
- Kagawa University
- Kyoto University
- Okayama University
- Kanazawa University
- Osaka Metropolitan University
- Kochi University
- Wakayama University
- Tokushima University
- Hiroshima University
- Kobe University
- Fukui University
- Ehime University
- Shiga University
- Osaka University
- Nagoya University.

Application Deadline
For Tokushima University (Josanjima Area), the application deadline is Friday, August 29, 2025, and documents must be submitted to the International Affairs Division. For all other universities, the application period is from June 2 to September 30, 2025.
