Why JISPA Stands Out?

  • Two Prestigious Tracks:
    • Master’s Track: Tailored graduate programs in economics and public policy at Japan’s top universities—GRIPS, Hitotsubashi, IUJ, and The University of Tokyo.
    • Ph.D. Track: Freedom to pursue doctoral studies at any leading Japanese university with full financial backing.
  • Comprehensive Benefits:
The scholarship covers tuition fees, a generous monthly stipend, round-trip airfare, orientation and workshop fees, visa/medical pre-arrival expenses, and even research-related costs for Ph.D. scholars.
  • Leadership & Networking:
JISPA goes beyond academics. Scholars engage in policy dialogues with IMF economists, field trips, workshops, and exclusive networking events with Japan’s Ministry of Finance, Bank of Japan, and global policymakers.

Who Can Apply?

JISPA is looking for bright young officials who want to shape their country’s future. Eligibility includes:

  • National of one of the 20+ participating countries (including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and more).
  • Current junior government officials employed by central banks, ministries of economy/finance, planning/development bodies, tax administrations, or related agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree for the Master’s Track / Master’s degree for the Ph.D. Track.
  • English fluency (TOEFL/IELTS recommended).
  • Priority is given to candidates under 36 with at least 2 years of public sector experience.

The Selection Process

Applications are evaluated based on academic merit, work experience, English and quantitative skills, and potential to contribute to policymaking in home countries. The program also emphasizes regional diversity, gender balance, and commitment to public service.
