International music graduates planning to pursue a master’s degree in the UK can now apply for the Jean Kennoway Howells Scholarship 2026–2027, offering a major financial award for postgraduate study at the University of Edinburgh’s Reid School of Music.
This prestigious opportunity supports one outstanding student beginning a full-time taught master’s programme in the 2026–2027 academic year.
Funding Benefit
The scholarship provides a total award of £15,000 for one academic year.
The amount will be automatically deducted from tuition fees, and any remaining balance will be paid toward the recipient’s living expenses.
Selected scholars will also be expected to actively participate in the postgraduate music community by presenting their work and contributing to academic and creative activities during their study period.
Who Can Apply?
The Jean Kennoway Howells Scholarship is open to new applicants worldwide who have applied for a full-time taught master’s programme within the Reid School of Music starting in 2026–2027.
Applicants must:
- Be new applicants to a full-time postgraduate taught master’s programme in music
- Hold or expect to achieve a UK First-Class or 2:1 Honours undergraduate degree or an international equivalent
- Demonstrate strong academic merit and potential
- Submit a complete master’s admission application before the required deadline
This scholarship cannot be held alongside any other scholarship funding offered by the University of Edinburgh or the Edinburgh College of Art.
Timeline and Key Dates
Applicants planning to begin their studies in September 2026 must first complete and submit their master’s programme application by 23 March 2026.
The final deadline to submit the scholarship application is 6 April 2026 at 23:59 UK time. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of June 2026.
