Postdoctoral fellows who have already defended their PhD will receive a monthly stipend of EUR 3,300, while doctoral candidates currently enrolled in a PhD program will receive EUR 2,750 per month. In addition to the stipend, fellows benefit from fully funded office space, high-speed internet, in-house research infrastructure, and complete administrative support at IWM—all provided free of charge.

Eligibility Criteria for the Józef Tischner Fellowship 2026

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a doctoral program in the humanities or social sciences or
  • Have obtained a PhD in the humanities or social sciences within the last four years (not before 10 February 2022)
  • Propose a research project aligned with at least one of IWM’s research fields.

Candidates may not submit multiple fellowship applications within the same academic year, and previous IWM fellows must observe the required waiting period before reapplying.
