Who Can Apply to KMU for Spring 2027?

International applicants must satisfy Taiwan’s Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan as well as KMU’s academic requirements.

For undergraduate admission, applicants normally need a recognized senior high school qualification or equivalent.

Master’s applicants must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree or equivalent, while PhD applicants generally require a recognized master’s degree or equivalent.

Foreign diplomas and academic documents may need verification by an appropriate Republic of China overseas representative office, so applicants should not leave document authentication until the final days of the application period.

Is IELTS Mandatory for KMU?

Not necessarily. KMU’s graduate programmes are largely available in English, but language requirements depend on the programme.

Where English proficiency is required, applicants generally need evidence equivalent to at least CEFR B1. However, KMU also allows applicants to provide a school-issued document confirming that their immediately preceding degree was taught in English.

For programmes requiring Chinese, applicants normally need TOCFL A2 or CEFR A2-equivalent Chinese proficiency, or evidence that their previous programme was conducted in Chinese.

Undergraduate programmes are taught in Chinese, and bachelor’s applicants are generally required to provide TOCFL A2 or equivalent Chinese proficiency, unless qualifying through previous Chinese-medium education.

Individual departments can impose higher language standards, so applicants should check the programme-specific admission criteria rather than relying only on the university-wide minimum.

Which Documents Should You Prepare?

KMU lists several core documents for international applicants, including:

  • highest-level diploma;
  • official academic transcripts;
  • financial statement;
  • proof of nationality;
  • study plan;
  • two recommendation letters;
  • passport-sized photograph;
  • eligibility verification and declaration form;
  • any additional documents required by the chosen department.

Applicants should prepare these documents early because incomplete online applications may not be successfully submitted.

How Does the KMU Application Work?

Applications are submitted through the KMU online admission system. Applicants may choose up to three programmes.

After creating an account, applicants select their degree level and programme, complete the application form, upload the required documents and arrange at least two referees for each programme applied to. The completed application form must also be printed, signed, scanned and uploaded before final submission.

Applications that are registered but not formally submitted through the system will not be treated as complete.

Spring 2027 Admission Timeline

KMU will conduct eligibility reviews between July and November 2026, while departmental evaluation is scheduled mainly from 15 October to 13 November 2026.

Admission results are expected on 4 December 2026, with successful students enrolling in February 2027.

The last date to apply for Kaohsiung Medical University Spring 2027 international admissions is 12 October 2026 at 17:00 Taiwan time.

Applicants should first confirm their programme’s language and academic requirements, then prepare verified academic documents and recommendation letters well before the deadline. The biggest avoidable mistake here is assuming that one university-wide language rule applies to every KMU programme.
