Lanzhou Jiaotong University Opens CSC Scholarships 2026 to Study in China for Free

Lanzhou Jiaotong University (LZJTU) has officially opened applications for the 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), offering ten fully funded positions for outstanding international candidates pursuing Master’s and Doctoral degrees. As one of China’s leading engineering and multidisciplinary universities, LZJTU brings forward a major opportunity for global students to access advanced research training without financial barriers.

The LZJTU university, located in northwest China’s Lanzhou City, has a history dating back to 1896 through the Imperial Chinese Railway College and is widely recognized as China’s third railway university. Over the decades, it has evolved into a comprehensive institution with strengths across engineering, science, economics, management, arts, and environmental studies.

Several disciplines at LZJTU, including engineering, chemistry, materials science, and environment and ecology, rank among the top one percent worldwide under the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) global rankings. More than 2,000 international students from 67 countries have graduated from LZJTU, and alumni now represent the university across more than 70 nations.

The 2026 CSC scholarship at LZJTU offers a full financial package that completely removes the cost burden for selected scholars. Recipients receive full tuition fee exemption along with free accommodation in university dormitories. The scholarship also provides a monthly stipend of CNY 3,000 for Master’s students and CNY 3,500 for Doctoral candidates, ensuring adequate support for academic and living expenses. In addition, scholars are covered under comprehensive medical insurance valued at CNY 1,000 per year. This fully funded structure positions the LZJTU CSC Scholarship as one of the most accessible pathways for international students looking to pursue graduate studies in China under state-supported funding.

The LZJTU CSC scholarship 2026-2027 is open to candidates applying for full-time Master’s and Doctoral programs taught in Chinese. LZJTU hosts a wide range of graduate programs across multiple disciplines, and applicants can refer to the university’s official program list for detailed information regarding academic options available under the 2026 scholarship cycle.

Eligibility requirements for the LZJTU China government scholarship 2026 intake remain aligned with national CSC standards. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health, holding a valid passport that complies with the Ministry of Education’s nationality regulations. Candidates for Master’s programs must possess a Bachelor’s degree, be under 30 years of age, and hold an HSK Level 4 certificate with a minimum score of 200. Applicants for Doctoral programs must hold a Master’s degree, be under 35 years of age, and present the same HSK Level 4 qualification. Candidates already benefiting from other Chinese scholarship programs are not eligible, and applicants must demonstrate a clean academic, legal, and disciplinary record both in China and internationally.

The application period for LZJTU’s 2026 CSC Scholarship will closes on 20 March 2026. Considering the multi-step application process and document verification requirements, early submission is strongly recommended. The selection process includes document screening, academic evaluation, and interview assessment before pre-admission results are issued.

The application process consists of two stages. In the first stage, candidates must apply through LZJTU’s international admissions system at lzjtu.17gz.org. Here, applicants submit their documents and participate in an online interview if shortlisted. Successful candidates receive an official pre-admission letter from the university’s School of International Education. In the second stage, applicants must complete the Chinese Government Scholarship application through the CSC portal at studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, selecting Type B and entering the LZJTU institution agency code 10732.

Applicants are required to prepare a complete set of documents, including the CSC application form, passport copy valid beyond September 2026, Chinese visa and entry records if applicable, notarized highest academic diploma, full academic transcripts, and a valid HSK Level 4 certificate. A detailed study plan or research proposal of at least 1,000 words must also be submitted, and Doctoral applicants must include a proposal signed by their intended Chinese supervisor.

Two recommendation letters from professors are mandatory, along with a foreigner physical examination form and a non-criminal record certificate issued within the past six months. Candidates applying to art-related fields must include samples of their work. The university emphasizes that unclear or unverified documents may cause immediate disqualification.

Scholarship recipients are also required to undergo an annual academic performance review to maintain their funding status. The review assesses academic progress, research achievements, and daily conduct. Students who fail to meet the performance standards may have their scholarship benefits suspended or permanently canceled, although they may continue their studies at their own expense.
