What’s on Offer?
Loughborough’s sports scholarships vary by sport and performance level, but all selected student-athletes will benefit from:
- Up to £5,000/year in direct financial support
- Free Gold Membership at Loughborough Sport, including access to Powerbase Gym, one of the UK’s top strength and conditioning facilities
- Free Athletic Union club membership
- Campus parking permit
- World-class coaching, nutrition, sports science, psychology, and lifestyle support
This support applies across performance squads in sports like athletics, basketball, swimming, football, netball, rugby union, cricket, tennis, triathlon, and more—including women’s wheelchair basketball.
International Sports Student Postgraduate Bursary
This special bursary is tailored for self-funded international postgraduate athletes competing at an elite level.
- 40% tuition fee reduction (approx. £8,000)
- Must be enrolled in a postgraduate taught program at Loughborough University
- Must compete for Loughborough in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) competitions
- Strong academic and sporting track record required.
Elite Athlete Doctoral Scholarship
Doctoral candidates with a strong sporting record can apply for:
- A PhD project starting in October 2025
- Scholarship eligibility contingent on admission and recommendation by Loughborough Sport.
