The MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship is a prestigious annual award offered by the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA). Named in honor of the pioneering Western Australian mining researcher and educator Emeritus Professor Odwyn Jones AO, this scholarship is designed to support candidates of exceptional research promise to pursue a PhD degree in any discipline relevant to the minerals industry at a university in Western Australia.

Scholarship Value: Up to $139,677

Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship provides substantial financial support, including:

  • Stipend Payments: $40,739 per year, disbursed fortnightly.
  • Research Support: Up to $5,820 per year, administered by the host institution, to support the program of research undertaken.

Eligibility:

This scholarship is open to all suitably qualified applicants, both domestic and international. Selection is based on merit, with applicants evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Proven academic record.
  • Individual research potential.
  • Quality of the detailed research proposal submitted with the application.
