Northland Regional Council Scholarship 2025 in New Zealand

If you’re a student passionate about the environment and looking for financial support and hands-on work experience, the Northland Regional Council’s Tū i te ora Scholarships 2025 are here for you!

These scholarships offer $4,000 to help with study costs and full-time paid work experience with the Council during the summer of 2025-2026. The work experience runs from mid-November 2025 to mid-February 2026, giving you the chance to apply your studies to real-life environmental project.

The scholarships support studies in areas like:

  • Environmental planning and policy
  • Biodiversity
  • Biosecurity
  • Climate change
  • Environmental science and data analysis
  • Water management, and more.

Three of the six scholarships are specifically for Māori students who whakapapa to Te Taitokerau, as part of the council’s effort to build Māori capacity in the region.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
  • Live in Northland (or have family there) or whakapapa to Te Taitokerau.
  • Be enrolled (or plan to enroll) in a tertiary program related to the council’s environmental and regulatory work.
  • Commit to the summer work experience.
