Over 4 Million People Secure UK eVisa, But 600,000 Still at Risk!
The UK’s immigration system is going digital, and over 4 million visa holders are already onboard the eVisa express. But here’s the kicker—600,000 people are still clinging to their old-school physical documents, and time is ticking! The Home Office has sounded the alarm: expired immigration documents will be a no-go for travel from 2 June 2025.
To make sure no one is left stranded, the government is extending the grace period from 31 March 2025 to 1 June 2025. This means BRP and EUSS BRC holders with expired documents can still travel—but only for a little while longer.
Deadline Drama: What Happens After June 1. 2025?
From 2 June 2025, expired Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs) will become useless for travel. If you’re still holding onto your old documents, brace yourself for major airport headaches—you could face delays, denied entry, or struggle to prove your right to stay in the UK.

Minister for Migration and Citizenship Seema Malhotra MP is practically shouting from the rooftops, urging visa holders to make the switch now:
“The eVisa transition is going strong, and millions have already made the switch. But for those who haven’t—don’t wait! Extending expired document use until June gives everyone more time, but the deadline won’t be pushed again. Act now to avoid unnecessary problems.”
Getting an eVisa is completely free, super simple, and way more convenient than keeping track of paper documents. Even Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) holders—who still use ink stamps or vignettes in passports—are encouraged to go digital for smoother travel and security.
