PASET PhD Scholarship and Innovation Fund 2025

The Partnership for Skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Technology (PASET) has announced the sixth call for applications for its prestigious Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif) PhD Scholarships. This opportunity is a golden ticket for aspiring doctoral students in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) to advance their education and contribute to the continent’s socio-economic transformation.

This initiative, supported by African governments, the World Bank, and the Government of Korea, offers PhD students the opportunity to study at selected African Host Universities (AHU) while participating in international research collaborations.

The Rsif PhD Scholarship offers a comprehensive package that covers various aspects of doctoral training:

  • Full University Tuition and Research Costs: All academic expenses, including tuition fees and research costs, are fully covered.
  • Monthly Living Allowance: Scholars receive a stipend to cover living expenses such as accommodation and meals during their study period at the Rsif AHU and during their sandwich placement at an international partner institution.
  • Travel Expenses: The scholarship includes return travel from the scholar’s home country to the Rsif AHU and from the Rsif AHU to the International Partner Institute.
  • Visas and Permits: All necessary visas and student permits are covered.
  • Health Insurance: Scholars are provided with annual medical and personal accident insurance.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Rsif PhD Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of any country in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Educational Background: Hold a relevant master’s degree related to the Rsif fields of study.
  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application.
  • Program Admission: Must meet the specific admission requirements of the Rsif AHU hosting the PhD program.
  • Commitment: Willing to enroll full-time in a PhD program at an Rsif AHU for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Other Scholarships: Applicants should not hold another PhD scholarship when applying for the Rsif scholarship.
  • Research Focus: Must be willing to work on a research topic that aligns with and contributes to national or regional development in Africa.
  • Special Consideration: Priority will be given to women and young academic faculty who do not yet have a PhD.
