PhD Scholarship Opportunity 2026 at University of New England

The University of New England (UNE), in partnership with Cogninet Australia, has announced an exciting PhD scholarship opportunity for students interested in advancing machine learning applications in healthcare and education. This research-driven program focuses on developing AI-powered models to analyse medical imaging, videos, and text-based reports, with the goal of enhancing both patient care and student learning outcomes.

Sponsorship Package

The scholarship provides a tax-free annual stipend of $36,862 (2025 rate), paid in fortnightly instalments, for a duration of 3.5 years (full-time doctoral study). In addition to the living allowance, the award covers full tuition fees and Single Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for international candidates. Successful applicants will also gain valuable exposure through industry partner engagement and an internship as part of their doctoral journey.

Eligibility Requirements

This opportunity is open to both domestic and international students, new or continuing, enrolling full-time in a doctoral degree at UNE’s School of Science and Technology. Applicants should:

  • Hold a background in computer science
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Python programming
  • Be available for industry collaboration and professional training

Preference will be given to candidates who can study on campus, though online options may also be considered.
