The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is now accepting applications for its Fall 2025 Research Internship Program. This highly competitive opportunity offers students hands-on experience in cutting-edge research environments, allowing them to gain valuable technical skills under the mentorship of distinguished professors at OIST.
Program Overview
The OIST Research Internship Program is designed for students in STEM fields and typically lasts 3 to 6 months. Selected interns will engage in active research within OIST’s laboratories, working alongside faculty members. This experience provides exposure to advanced research techniques and fosters a deeper understanding of scientific methodologies.

- Internship Allowance: 2,400 JPY per working day

Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to students who meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in the last two years of a bachelor’s degree or any year of a master’s degree
- Recent graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree who are interested in pursuing a PhD at OIST
- Students from universities, colleges, junior colleges, and vocational schools in Japan or overseas
- Approval from the home institution is required for currently enrolled students.
