Research Scholarships 2026 at Edith Cowan University

If you are an ambitious student aiming to pursue a research degree in Australia, Edith Cowan University (ECU) is opening its doors through the prestigious ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarships 2025. These awards are designed for outstanding domestic and international applicants who want to make their mark in academia while being financially supported.

Sponsorship Package

This ECU research scholarships provide a comprehensive funding package that includes full tuition fee sponsorship and a generous stipend of $35,000 per annum, paid fortnightly via EFT. International students also benefit from a partial reimbursement of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), while domestic students may be eligible for a relocation allowance. The scholarship runs for up to 3 years for a PhD and up to 2 years for a Master by Research.

ECU Research Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must have received (or be awaiting approval of) an offer for a PhD, Integrated PhD, or Master by Research program at ECU. Candidates must also have supervisor endorsement for their research project. However, you are not eligible if:

  • You’ve received an AusAID or Australia Award scholarship in the past two years.
  • You lack supervisor endorsement for your proposed project.
  • Your program commencement date is after 8 May 2026 (for PhD) or after Semester 1, 2026 (for Integrated PhD or Masters by Research).
  • Your income exceeds 75% of the ECU RTP stipend base rate.

Application Schedule

Applications for research scholarship at Edith Cowan university open on 3 September 2025 and close on 16 October 2025. All submissions must be made within this window, and only applicants who have secured or applied for ECU admission will be considered. Conditional offers may be extended to applicants still awaiting final admission approval by the time of ranking.

Application Process

Applying is straightforward: candidates must first apply for admission into an ECU research degree program and secure supervisor support. Once this is in place, applicants can submit the scholarship application via ECU’s official online portal before the closing date.
