RISE Professional Internship 2025 by DAAD Germany

Here’s everything you need to know to apply and make the most of this fantastic opportunity.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the RISE Professional Internship 2025, you must meet one of the following criteria:

• Enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program at a North American, British, or Irish university in fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Earth Science, or Engineering (or a closely related field).
• Undergraduate RISE Germany-Alumni currently studying in a relevant field at a North American, British, or Irish university.
• Recent graduates who have completed their degree no more than 7 months before applying.

Note: International students in these countries must have been in the country for at least 12 months at the time of application.

German language proficiency may be required depending on the nature of the internship. Some internships require at least an intermediate level of German, while others do not require any German language skills at all.

What Does the Scholarship Include?

The RISE Professional Internship offers internships ranging from three to six months. Due to German law and minimum wage regulations, different payment structures are available:

1# For Enrolled Students (Up to 3 Months or Mandatory Internships Up to 6 Months):

• • Monthly Scholarship: €492 for Bachelor and Master students, €800 for Ph.D. students.
  • Additional Payment: Hosting companies are required to pay an additional €500 net per month.

2# For Internships Longer than 3 Months (Up to 6 Months) and Recent Graduates:

• • Minimum Wage: Companies must pay the minimum wage of €12.82 per hour before tax for the entire duration.

Additional Benefits for All Scholarship Holders:

• Travel Expenses: Provided based on the country of origin.
• Insurance: Health, accident, and personal/private liability insurance covered.
• Language Course Reimbursement: 70% of course fees (up to €250) if attending a language course in Germany.
• RISE Meeting: All scholarship holders are invited to a three-day RISE meeting in Heidelberg in July, with a €160 travel reimbursement.

Important: DAAD will provide necessary documents for visa applications but cannot guarantee visa approval. It is highly recommended for non-EU citizens to apply for a visa as early as possible.
