Santa Monica College (SMC) is offering a wide range of scholarships for the 2025 academic year, with over $1.1 million available in awards ranging from $250 to $50,000. Whether you’re a current SMC student or an incoming first-year, these scholarships provide a significant opportunity to support your education.
Eligibility Criteria:
- GPA: Minimum 2.5 GPA for both current students and incoming first-year students.
- Enrollment Status: Students must be enrolled in at least six (6) units for part-time or twelve (12) units for full-time study.
- Financial Need: While some scholarships require demonstrated financial need, others do not. Submitting a FAFSA or California Dream Act Application is recommended.
- Students with Bachelor’s Degrees: Not eligible for these scholarships.
- Majors and Programs: Open to students from all majors, with scholarships available for continuing and transfer students.
How to Apply?
- Current SMC Students: Log into your Corsair Connect account (https://www.smc.edu/admission-aid/financial-aid-scholarships/types-of-aid/scholarships/how-to-apply.php), and access the “Financial Aid” section to find the scholarship application. Ensure you meet the minimum qualifications before applying.
- Incoming First-Year Students: Apply to SMC, and once you receive your Corsair Connect credentials, complete the scholarship application within the Financial Aid portal.
- International Students: Eligible for scholarships that do not require financial need.
Make sure to prepare your personal statement and other written responses in advance, as the application cannot be saved once started. Take screenshots of your application before submitting for your records.

Important Dates:
- October 1, 2024: Applications open for current SMC students
- December 31, 2024: Application deadline for current SMC students
- February 3, 2025: Applications open for incoming first-year students
- June 13, 2025: Final deadline for incoming first-year students
- Mid-April 2025: Scholarship winners will be notified via email.
What Happens After Applying?
Scholarship committees will review applications from February to April 2025. Some students may be invited for an interview during this process. Recipients will be notified beginning in mid-April 2025, with a recognition event for donors and winners scheduled for May 16, 2025.
