Are you a rising star in the world of life sciences with a PhD awarded in 2023 or 2024? Here’s your chance to gain global recognition for your groundbreaking research! The Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists 2025 is officially open — and it’s calling on brilliant early-career researchers from all over the world.

About the Prize

The Science & SciLifeLab Prize is an annual global award that honors exceptional doctoral research in the life sciences. Sponsored by Science magazine and SciLifeLab, this prestigious competition recognizes early-career scientists whose PhD research falls into one of four major life science categories:

Subject Tracks:

  1. Cell and Molecular Biology
  2. Genomics, Proteomics & Systems Biology Approaches
  3. Ecology and Environment
  4. Molecular Medicine

If your thesis falls into one of these categories and you earned your PhD between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024, you’re eligible to enter!

Prizes and Recognition

  • Grand Prize Winner: USD $30,000 + publication in Science
  • Category Winners: USD $10,000 each + essays published online.

Winners will also be flown to Stockholm, Sweden for a prestigious Awards Ceremony in December 2025.

Application Processing Timeline

The last date to submit your application for the Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists 2025 is 15 July 2025. Following the submission deadline, entries will be reviewed during August and September 2025, with the winners selected between October and November 2025. The prestigious Award Ceremony will take place in December 2025 in Stockholm, where the grand prize and category winners will be honored.

Philip Morgan
