Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships 2026 for Overseas Studies

Aim of the Scholarship
Established to honor the late Governor Sir Edward Youde, this scholarship program is designed to finance outstanding students from Hong Kong to pursue undergraduate studies overseas. More than just a financial award, the program encourages recipients to return and contribute to the development of the Hong Kong SAR after their graduation.
Value of the Award
The maximum scholarship value is HK$280,000 per year. The final amount will be calculated based on the actual tuition, essential living costs, and any other concurrent awards or financial aid.
Who Is Eligible?
To apply, students must meet the following criteria:
- Be permanent residents of Hong Kong.
- Have completed at least five (05) years of continuous full-time education in Hong Kong.
- Fulfill admission and application requirements of their chosen overseas universities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in English and Chinese, as well as strong command of the language of instruction for their intended study program.
Applicants do not need to have received admission offers at the time of applying, but must indicate up to 10 combinations of intended institutions and programs.
How to Apply for 2026/27
All applications must be submitted online via GovHK (https://www.wfsfaa.gov.hk/sfo/seymf/en/whatwedo/scholarships_overseas.htm#A3). Supporting documents and the signed declaration (Annex E) must be submitted via drop-in box or post to the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council Secretariat.
- Application Closes: 5 September 2025 (Friday)
- Selection Interviews: Shortlisted candidates must attend in-person interviews in Hong Kong between December 2025 and February 2026.
The selected scholars are expected to begin their study programs between April 2026 and March 2027.
