Slovenia has officially opened scholarship-backed short-term study mobility opportunities for the 2026–2027 academic year, inviting students from around the world to experience European higher education in a dynamic, research-driven environment.
This opportunity is not a full degree scholarship, but a funded short-term study mobility programme that allows international students to study at Slovenian higher education institutions for 3 to 10 months. It is ideal for students who want international academic exposure, credit transfer, intercultural learning, and stronger global career prospects—without committing to a full multi-year program abroad. The mobility window applies specifically to the 2026/2027 academic cohort.
What Is Being Offered?
For 2026/2027, Slovenia is allocating 24 scholarship months in total to support incoming international students under different mobility pathways. These scholarships are designed to reduce the financial burden of studying abroad while enabling students to integrate into Slovenia’s academic and research ecosystem. Depending on the mobility route, students may receive:
- Monthly financial support during the mobility period
- Access to Slovenian universities and academic facilities
- Support with accommodation guidance, health insurance, and residence or visa procedures
- Recognition of academic credits earned during the mobility period
- Exposure to European teaching methods, research culture, and international classrooms.
Mobility Pathways to Study in Slovenia
International students can access these scholarships through three (03) main mobility frameworks:
1# Erasmus+ Programme
Erasmus+ remains the most common route, supporting study mobility of 3 to 12 months. Participation is based on inter-institutional agreements between home and host universities and is open to both EU and non-EU students through partner institutions.
2# Bilateral Agreements (Bilateral Scholarships 2026/2027)
Slovenia has active bilateral higher education agreements with multiple countries, including India, China, Japan, Italy, Hungary, Turkey, Poland, Mexico, Switzerland, and several Balkan states. These agreements support reciprocal study mobility for up to 10 months, with structured application procedures and country-specific guidance packages.
3# CEEPUS Exchange Programme
CEEPUS supports academic mobility within Central and South-Eastern Europe through both network-based and freemover mobility options. It is especially suited for students in collaborative or joint academic fields across participating countries.
