STEM Scholarship 2026 for Women at Macquarie University

Macquarie University is taking bold steps to encourage and empower female-identifying students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The Faculty of Science and Engineering Women in STEM Scholarship is designed to recognize excellence, promote equity, and support students overcoming barriers in higher education.


Scholarship Value and Duration

Successful applicants will be awarded AUD $5,000, with the scholarship lasting for up to 4 years for undergraduate students and up to 2 years for postgraduate coursework students, provided ongoing eligibility is maintained.


Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to female-identifying international students commencing an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Macquarie University in Session 1, 2025.


Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Faculty of Science and Engineering Women in STEM Scholarship at Macquarie University, applicants must be female-identifying students who are commencing an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree within the Faculty of Science and Engineering in Session 1, 2025.

Students must be enrolled full-time and studying on campus, while also demonstrating a strong academic record and a clear ability to work hard, persist, and achieve their goals. Preference will be given to candidates who can show evidence of financial hardship or disadvantage, including but not limited to economic hardship, a non-English speaking background, geographic disadvantage, or living with a disability.

This scholarship is specifically designed to support and empower women in STEM by recognizing both academic merit and equity considerations.


Application Process

Applications are submitted via the Macquarie University Scholarship Application portal.

You will need to provide:

  • Two references: one from an academic source (such as a school principal) and another from someone who can comment on your suitability.
  • A personal statement answering these questions:
    • Why have you chosen this degree?
    • What do you hope to achieve once you complete this degree?
    • How might this scholarship make a difference to your studies and career?
    • How do you see yourself contributing to STEM as a woman leader?

Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an informal interview with Macquarie University representatives.
